“The design you make is a product of the society that you live and have grown up in,”says Ingrid Wingård, co-founder of Swedish design practice Minus Tio. “When we grew up we were surrounded by Sweden in the 80s. So it was white packages with blue text on it. Our parents were driving Saabs.” This film takes an intimate look at the inspirations and values driving Malmo-based design studio Minus Tio. Founded by Ingrid and her husband Olle, Minus Tio follows a strict aesthetic, working only with traditional Swedish materials such as wood, steel and leather. “It is a good limitation because we get to know these materials really well.”
This film is one in a series of six commissioned by Swedish Design Moves. The project saw Zetteler Films travel to Malmö to document some of the people and practices exhibiting as part of the Swedish Design Pavilion at the 2017 London Design Fair. Filmed in the designers’ everyday surrounds, each film captures the raw human emotions, beliefs and inspiration driving each practice. You can watch the trailer for the series here.
