Seventeen years ago, Swedish industrial designers Kristian Andréason and Kristin Leibel founded their design studio Andréason & Leibel. For 12 years the duo specialised in “hardcore industrial design” yet, in 2012, the studio had a creative awakening. “We had a desire to work without specification or a fixed set of rules,” says Kristin. Acting on this realisation was highly liberating and saw the studio embrace a new hands-on approach. This film reflects on the transition.
This film is one in a series of six commissioned by Swedish Design Moves. The project saw Zetteler Films travel to Malmö to document some of the people and practices exhibiting as part of the Swedish Design Pavilion at the 2017 London Design Fair. Filmed in the designers’ everyday surrounds, each film captures the raw human emotions, beliefs and inspiration driving each practice.
