#CDW17: Design Undefined #3 line-up announcement

As journalists and design lovers from London’s creative community gathered at Clerkenwell London for the official Clerkenwell Design Week 2017 press briefing yesterday, we are full of joy and monumentally proud to announce the incredible line-up for Design Undefined #3. Following in the epic footsteps of Camille Walala, Benjamin Hubert, Kia Utzon-Frank, Samuel Wilkinson, Yinka Ilori and so many more, this year’s exhibitors represent the best of print, innovation and boundary-bending design.

Graphic artist Anthony Burrill has defined a generation of artists and designers driven by curiosity and cultural observation. Known for his distinctive blending of language, type and colour (as well as his timeless creative mantra “Work hard and be nice to people”), Burrill has worked commercially with the likes of Apple, Google, Hermés, the British Council, London Underground and the Design Museum. Design Undefined will mark the first time that he has ever shown all his letterpress prints in one place. Bringing together 20 works the exhibition will see uplifting, inspiring and utterly original work spread throughout Clerkenwell London, tying the whole exhibition together. We are also excited to see Burrill join forces with furniture designer Michael Marriott to construct a “room within a room”. Since Design Undefined debuted at CDW 2016, Clerkenwell London has become something of an incubator for brilliant collaborations and this one is not to be missed.
'Captain' by Alex Booker
Continuing the celebration of talented printmakers, Alex Booker (founder of Booker Print House) will showcase a site-specific series of new woodcut portraits, portraits, landscapes and text based pieces exploring the trades and characters that shaped the Clerkenwell area throughout history, including a limited edition work available exclusively from Clerkenwell London.
Light tests from Jordan Söderberg Mill's studio
Interdisciplinary artist Jordan Söderberg Mills was born in Canada and now works between Toronto, Santiago and London. A reflection of the borderless spirit that creative industry thrives on, Söderberg Mills will transform the Keep — Clerkenwell London’s enclosed structure on the ground floor. He will transform the space into an immersive cube of colour and reflection with anaglyphic mirror panels and a new version of his installation, Sectum Spectra, creating stereoscopic reflections and blurring the boundaries between the subject and their surroundings.
SilicaStone, the pioneering material from surface company ALuSID
Clerkenwell Design Week is the perfect opportunity to scope out fresh ideas and finding new people and brands to fall in love with. Design Undefined will bring the incredible work of AluSID to visitors’ attention. A spin out company that stems from the University of Central Lancashire, AluSID works with recycling company Recycling Lives to answer the questions we’ve all asked ourselves at some point — what exact does (and could) happen to the hefty electrical and hardware products we dispose of every day? AluSID creates unique products that are manufactured using a minimum of 96% recycled materials. The creators of pioneering new material SilicaStone (a beautiful, versatile and sustainable surface, made from fused recycled glass fused recycled glass and ceramics, rescued from landfill) will be creating something extra special for Design Undefined, so keep your eyes peeled for more news from them and for further announcements as we get nearer to the show!
