“We’re not particularly interested in doing things as they’ve been done before. Zetteler has always followed a different path. “After a degree in management and sustainability back in 2001, three years at the BBC, and five helping Mr & Mrs Smith grow internationally, I set out on my own in 2012 and I haven’t looked back. Within a year, what started as a handful of freelance projects led to a host of major clients – from individual creatives and small businesses all the way to global companies and international embassies. Since then, we’ve gone from me sitting on my floor with a laptop to a beautiful, busy office in De Beauvoir teeming with incredible – and incredibly driven – humans. These days, ‘Zetteler’ is so much more than my surname. “Our clients enjoy the fact we interrogate their every detail to make them the best version of themselves. That’s our job. We are committed to the basic principle of being extremely bloody useful to our clients and, ultimately, to making the world a better place. We’re never going to lose that drive. We hire for it and we deliver on it. Being part of this curious team and the community we’re building around us is exhilarating.” – Sabine Zetteler, founder and managing director
We all have our own areas of expertise and experience – from arts institutions and design giants to global thought leaders – and that’s the advantage of Zetteler: when you work with us, you work with all of us.
PR Manager
With a BA in history of art from the Courtauld Institute of Art, Emma spent five years masterminding PR campaigns and sharing strategic insights for a coterie of cultural institutions, museums, galleries, fairs and festivals. She’s worked with the likes of India Art Fair, the Courtauld Gallery, the Horniman Museum, Artichoke Trust and Calvert 22 Foundation – so it’s fair to say she knows a thing or two hundred about handling high-profile communication campaigns. Pivoting from visual arts to take more of a focus on design, she was drawn to Zetteler’s ‘humanity and honesty’ (her words, promise), while we were drawn to her sharp mind, endless wellspring of ideas and palpable passion for the creative world.
Film Director
Zetteler’s resident filmmaker has been working with Sabine for longer than either of them can really remember. They met during their time at the BBC, where Andy spent 12 years making music and arts documentaries. Since then, he and Sabine have collaborated closely, and Andy now heads up the film production arm of Zetteler, shooting, editing and directing films about the creative brands, people and initiatives that Zetteler represents, and working closely with the team to distil client stories into original, impactful and shareable content.
Head of Strategy
It was at precisely the moment when Zetteler needed some clear-eyed, long-term strategic insight that Rupert appeared in our lives. Having spent eight years learning the ropes at Dieter Rams design powerhouse Vitsœ, the history of art grad has developed a finely honed brain for big-picture thinking, and a superlative talent for telling brand stories. He’s equally impressive outside of the office, and can often be found hiking or biking (both mountain and motor) his way around the countryside. Now installed at Zetteler, Rupert shares his expertise and design knowledge with both our team and our clients, and making us at least 180% better at what we do.
PR coordinator
Landing in London from Limerick, Chris is an artist, writer and all-round creative polymath with a first in fine art, an enormous brain and all the drive of Michael Schumacher in a monster truck. Before he leaped aboard the good ship Zetteler, Chris learned about all things design and communications at the Design Museum, started editing his thrice-yearly publication The Emotional Art Magazine, worked at a gallery, receiving grants and awards for his own art, and writing about stuff like biennales and gentrification, Adam Curtis and contemporary dance, #MeToo, and art-world scandals, for Dazed. (Presumably he was also eating and sleeping at some point, but we have no evidence of this.)
Editor
Born in Yorkshire, transplanted to London and spat into the Hertfordshire hinterlands, Anthony is a multitasking freelance writer and editor with a background in travel, design, food and snarky emails about punctuation. He has been working with Zetteler since the company’s beginnings in 2012, with Sabine convincing him to give up his day job and commit his typing finger to championing her expanding list of clients. He now breezes into the Zetteler office whenever his expanding list of children allows, and helps us hone our tone of voice, print materials, press releases, web content and pretty much anything that ends in a full stop.
Communications Manager
Descending on London from Manchester in 2009, Katie studied history of art at the Courtauld Institute, then bagged a master’s in fashion marketing before taking a bracing dip in the creative sea with WGSN, the Other Art Fair and Protein. She came to Zetteler to assist the growing team in the summer of 2015 and was swiftly upgraded to marketing executive when we realised that not only is she boundlessly energetic and unshakeably positive at all times but she also has a gift for social media and marketing strategy. After three years and a lot of hard work, Katie is now our communications manager overseeing the strategy and voice of Zetteler on all our social channels, coordinating editorial for our New + Ideas pages, and effectively gluing all the diverse bits of our company together.
Head of Operations
Jess is a creative systems expert with a background in fine art, print and bookbinding. Having studied fine art in Falmouth, she set about surrounding herself with paper at every opportunity, working at a succession of galleries and print studios before succumbing to the inevitable and committing her life to making people get stuff done. After three years at event-tech company Noodle Live, where she was operations director, Jess went on to provide freelance project-management services for the likes of Viewport Studio, Ma-tt- er, Open As Usual, Camille Walala, Patternity and Aerende. She first came to Zetteler in 2015 with the temporary brief of sorting out our project-management systems. She did such a good job that, two years later, she became our head of operations.
Senior PR Manager
Jod is back and at the heart of our PR department after a year’s baby-shaped break. Jodi first landed in London from sunny Swansea in 2009, completed a degree in 3D design and went to work at Mint in Kensington, where owner, design curator, collector and trendsetter Lina Kanafani introduced her to some of the most influential designers on the scene, kickstarting her career in PR. When Zetteler found her (thanks to a tip-off from Modern Design Review’s Laura Houseley), she was working her own one-woman publicity show, but seduced by Zetteler’s ‘creative approach to PR and storytelling’ (her words, honest), Jodi joined us in summer 2016. Now, alongside Emma and Grace, she brings her considerable talent and irresistible charm to spearheading campaigns for Zetteler’s inspiring collection of design clients.
PR Manager
Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, and now in the throes of a love affair with London, Grace is passionate about giving a voice to projects that do good for the world, however small their scope (she is, in her words, ‘a belligerent recycler’). Relentlessly curious, Grace’s interests range from exploring the symbiotic relationship between design and people to navigating the cultural ecosystem of the city, and she loves uncovering the human story behind everyday objects. Grace first came to Zetteler on Emma’s recommendation, but she stayed for the values and the view (ie our mission to make a positive difference, and our sunsets, respectively). In their previous life, she and Emma worked together driving publicity for a succession of large-scale events, place-making initiatives and public art projects, so Grace already had a tonne of top-drawer experience spearheading ambitious creative campaigns before she stepped through Zetteler’s door.
MARKETING MANAGER
Emily arrived to London from Bradford, with a pit-stop in High Wycombe to pick up a degree in furniture design. Swiftly realising that her passions lay in championing the creative work of others, she spent three years embedded at London Design Fair, where she became marketing and communications manager – and therefore a linchpin of the London design scene. We noticed that she seemed to understand more about marketing analytics than the rest of us put together, so we lured her to the Zetteler office and have refused to let her out ever since. However, because she still gets to work on marketing for London Design Fair, and a host of other fabulous creative folk, we reckon she’s pretty happy about it.
Founder + Managing Director
Sabine is a seasoned communications specialist with over a decade of industry experience and a degree in management and sustainability under her belt. After a career that took her via the BBC and Mr & Mrs Smith, she shifted her focus to art and design in 2012, first as a freelancer and then, when her client list ballooned, as the founder Zetteler. Now with an enthusiastic team alongside her, she is thrilled to have her dream job: working with inspiring and creative people, sharing the brilliant things they do and, every so often, making a positive impact on the world.
