Artefact is an architecture studio co-founded and led by architects Benedetta Rogers and Daniel Marmot. From its base in north London, the practice works on varied projects, ranging from residential settings to public spaces and community initiatives, all united by Benedetta and Daniel’s determination to uplift people’s lives through sensitive and considered design that brings joy. The duo are committed to creating and empowering positive societal change – an ambition that is increasingly reflected in the direction of the practice’s work towards socially engaged, community-building projects. This is typified in projects such as the Common Rooms in Stamford Hill – the transformation of a church undercroft into a dynamic suite of multipurpose spaces, dedicated to community use – for the charity Clapton Commons. Projects such as this, and the ongoing low-carbon new-build scheme Ash Tree House, have helped earn Artefact a reputation for ingenuity in using everyday materials in unexpected ways, and for exploring new materials that reduce the environmental impact of architecture.
Having known and followed Benedetta and Daniel’s work more or less since Artefact was first established in 2021, we’re really excited to be supporting them as they continue to shape their studio’s positive, progressive, and socially meaningful vision for improving our urban fabric.
