RIBA’s former London region director, Dian Small, has set out to transcend and transform traditional architecture. Through her platform, the Cultural Architect, Dian focuses, not merely on the design of physical spaces, but on the creation of inclusive environments and the shaping of cultural experiences and human interactions within them.
Using an approach she has dubbed ‘Living IRIE’ – which stands for Interactive Relevant Inclusive Experience – Dian works as a practitioner, consultant, thought leader and facilitator, striving to challenge industry norms, celebrate and empower difference, and embrace equitable and sustainable futures.
In late 2024, Dian was appointed lead of London School of Architecture’s Good Growth in Practice programme, an initiative funded by the GLA and the Crown Estate designed to empower underrepresented practice owners by dismantling procurement barriers and tackling systemic inequity.
WHAT WE DO FOR Dian Small
Zetteler is excited by Dian’s determination to shake up the architectural establishment and actively pursue a more diverse, equitable, and sustainable future for the industry. We’re working with her and the LSA team to launch the Good Growth in Practice programme.
