The Greater London Authority (aka the GLA or City Hall) is the governing body responsible for keeping the UK capital ticking. Created after a public vote in 1998, the GLA has two parts – the Mayor’s office, which sets the vision for the city, and the 25-member London Assembly, which advises, sets budgets, and holds the Mayor to public account. From health and housing to planning and policing, the GLA’s remit is broad, encompassing everything to do with the everyday operations of the city, as well as its ambitions for the future. One of the GLA’s focuses is the arts and culture sector. London is famously one of the world’s most culturally rich and creative cities, and the GLA is on a mission to ensure it stays that way. The body has established a wide range of initiatives and projects designed to support the creative industries, including the establishment of dedicated Creative Enterprise Zones (CEZs) around the Greater London area. These places are specially designed to nurture artists’ studios and creative enterprises by funding affordable workspace, providing business support and embedding creative practice in the local community.
Zetteler is thrilled to have been appointed by the GLA to support the ongoing evolution of the CEZ programme. With more zones due to launch in the coming months, we’ll be helping the team develop a communications strategy introducing the new CEZs and the benefits they bring to their communities, and to London at large.
