The National Park City movement is a grassroots effort taking place worldwide to make cities greener, healthier and wilder. In each city, the campaign is led by local people – with successes and learnings shared internationally – and supports their work to make life better for people, wildlife and nature in their own streets and neighbourhoods. London became the world's first National Park City in 2019, with Adelaide, Chattanooga and Breda following in the years since. Dozens of other campaigns are currently underway, including: Belfast, Glasgow, Rotterdam, Southampton and Cardiff. In London, led by Mark Cridge, the charity has 160 volunteers that connect people with nature in their neighbourhoods, supporting local nature recovery and urban greening in every local borough through small grants, events and hosting community spaces.
City’s have so much offer – bustling community, diverse people and endless amounts of things to do – yet too often, nature is assumed to be something found in the countryside. The Zetteler team thinks National Park City is a no-brainer, and are using our skills to help the London campaign share its message.
