One of the last and largest settlements to emerge from the New Towns Act of 1946, Milton Keynes was born from modernist utopianism – a bold experiment in city-building from scratch and an ambitious vision of a better way to live.

Just 30 minutes outside London by rail, Milton Keynes is now one of the UK’s great centres of enterprise, with the country’s fourth highest rate of business start-ups per capita, and a thriving tech sector – most ostensible in its famous fleet of autonomous delivery robots that criss-cross its urban grid. The young city is also one of the UK’s greenest, with 6,000 acres of parkland, rivers, lakes and woodland.

As it approaches its 60th birthday in 2027, Milton Keynes’s ambition and sense of possibility are as strong as ever. One of nine cities long-listed for City of Culture 2029, Milton Keynes is looking to the future with confidence and pride.

Having worked closely with Milton Keynes City Council on the launch of Yinka Ilori’s large-scale art installation Walk With Your Dreams, which transformed Station Square, Zetteler is proud to be collaborating with the city team once again, helping to shape and support Milton Keynes’ characteristically bold City of Culture bid.
