The bureaucracy of planning systems worldwide tends to privilege the privileged. Big developers with lawyers and high-income residents know how to make the paperwork work for them, not only sidelining everyone else, but distorting how cities are built and lived in.
Founded with a simple but powerful mission – to democratise access to the planning system – Planning Aid for London has been supporting ordinary Londoners since 1973. With a 50+-year-long history, its achievements are impressive, especially considering the charity is volunteer-led and provides entirely free support. Over the decades, its work has expanded from handling casework queries to delivering workshops, building toolkits, and leading cultural initiatives that make planning accessible, creative and inclusive.
WHAT WE DO FOR Planning Aid for London
At Zetteler, we admire architects and planners that are adventurous and progressive. But everyone who’s passionate about driving structural change across the built environment knows design needs more than good intentions – it needs community, and a little political savvy. That’s why we’re representing Planning Aid for London, working to raise awareness about this essential organisation at a pivotal point in its history.
