For over two decades, Root And Erect has been focused on building a public realm that works for the common good. The RIBA-chartered practice was founded in London in 2003 by architects Barbara Kaucky and Susanne Tutsch, and today comprises a small and dynamic team of committed architects and designers with a shared culture of collaboration, curiosity and care.

With particular strengths in community architecture, public realm, landscape, research and user/stakeholder engagement strategies, the practice has won numerous awards for its thoughtful and sustainability-led public-sector projects, including the purpose-built visitor centre for Camley Street Natural Park in King’s Cross, Vauxhall Missing Link public realm framework, Woodhouse Urban Park and a catalogue of children’s play spaces throughout London and the South East.
