Sebastian Cox

Since founding his award-winning studio in London in 2010, Sebastian Cox has pursued a determinedly nature-first approach to design. From individual furniture pieces to large-scale architectural projects, the studio places sustainability and regeneration at the heart of every activity. 

Helmed by Sebastian and his partner, the designer and creative director Brogan Cox, the studio harvests and mills its own timber, grown in woodlands they manage in Kent. In 2026, the studio, workshop and showroom moved from London to Margate. Here, they produce beautiful, heirloom-quality wooden furniture, alongside larger structures, joinery and masterplans for wild and wooded landscapes.

For all their projects, the studio implements zero-waste, fully carbon-accountable processes that combine traditional craft practice with modern making technologies. In 2025, for example, Sebastian Cox collaborated with Studio Weave and landscape designer Tom Massey to create the gold medal-winning Mycelium Pavilion at the Chelsea Flower Show – a carbon-negative structure built using hand-grown mycelium blocks.

As well as producing its own furniture collections and collaborating with forward-thinking brands including Aesop, RM Williams and deVol Kitchens, Sebastian Cox has also led major environmental projects such as the rewilding of Birch Seldon golf course – a key step towards fulfilling the the studio’s mission to double the area of woodland and wild land in the UK by 2040. A liveryman of the Furniture Makers’ Company and head judge of the Wood Awards, Sebastian Cox was appointed a Royal Designer for Industry in 2022.

Zetteler and the Sebastian Cox studio have evolved in parallel and we’ve been a staunch and vocal supporter of its bold fusion of beautiful design and big-picture environmental thinking since the beginning. We’re very happy to be working with the studio on communications, as they continue to prove to the industry that carbon-conscious, regenerative design is the way forward.
