Daily life is increasingly plugged into the internet. Try applying for a job or managing your banking without it, and you will run into trouble. Yet much of our digital infrastructure excludes countless people.
Signly is building a better kind of internet. By providing sign language translations for web content, it helps businesses and organisations go beyond minimal compliance. Just in the UK, British Sign Language is the first language for about 87,000 deaf people – experts say this is likely higher – and English might not be a second or even a third language for BSL users. Written communications can therefore be difficult to follow and sometimes impossible to understand.
Showing how technology can be re-designed to include everyone, Signly is part of a growing movement of inclusive tech companies.
WHAT WE DO FOR Signly
