In the spring of 2019, the furniture brand TAKT was founded in Copenhagen. It set out to reinvent the furniture industry with a disruptive proposition: high-quality, sustainable design, sold direct to customers around the world, at fair, accessible prices. The brand launched with three chairs; the Soft Chair by Thomas Bentzen, Tool Chair by Rasmus Palmgren and the Cross Chair by Pearson Lloyd – an ingeniously designed stackable wooden chair that could be shipped flat-pack and assembled with ease. Since launch, TAKT’s products have embraced the same principles: natural, recyclable or degradable materials, a sustainable production process, a flat-pack distribution model to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions; and the timeless simplicity and elegance of the Scandinavian design tradition. All of TAKT’s furniture has been awarded with the EU Ecolabel, which vouches not only for the sustainability of the materials used, but also for the consideration of the lifetime environmental impact of the product. Danish in character, global in scope, TAKT has been able sidestep the intermediary stages of conventional furniture brands, and maintain a uniquely appealing balance of cost, craft and carbon reduction.
Zetteler first started working with TAKT when we helped Pearson Lloyd introduce their Cross Chair design – then again when they expanded the Cross family in 2020. We loved TAKT’s convention-busting business model and walk-the-walk dedication to sustainable production and circular design, so it’s a privilege to be working directly with the brand to share their story – and its new collections – and as it enters its next chapter.
